Carbon Pricing News
10 Years of Carbon Pricing in Europe
A report commissioned by the Prince of Wales Leadership Group
analyses the last decade of the EU ETS. The report overall concluded
that the EU ETS has helped companies focus on emissions reductions,
and those companies who have championed low-carbon strategies
have been rewarded with declining costs, and a drive for creativity
and innovation.
International Partnerships will Help Leverage Carbon Pricing
The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate released a
report on global opportunities and partnerships for better growth,
one of the key findings being that greater cooperation among nations
can minimize risks and accelerate action on fossil fuel subsidy
reduction and implementation of carbon pricing.
CPLC Teleconference
The CPLC held its first Partners’ Teleconference on July 14, where
selected partners were invited to discuss recent developments in
global carbon pricing. We heard from Total on the Oil & Gas Letter,
Germany on the recent G7 Communique, and Ontario on their
implementation of a cap and trade system. The discussion was
fruitful, and we look forward to hosting more of these informal
teleconferences in the future.
